Tablet Enhancements for Outlook 3.0 (#1)
Tablet Enhancements for Outlook is an add-in for Microsoft OutlookŪ 2003 and 2007 that turns the popular personal information manager into a fully pen-enabled application on your Tablet PC, UMPC, or Origami device. TEO 3.0 replaces Outlook's standard UI with fully ink-enabled forms and lets you write and keep your notes in your own handwriting. No synchronization required.
Rapid One-Handed Data Entry

The ability to quickly capture data in meetings, classes, or phone calls is very important. TEO allows you to do this using the same software you use today, resulting in a minimal learning curve and maximum use of the captured data.
Microsoft Outlook, out of the box, provides little optimization for the Tablet PC platform. While you can send ink emails using the features of Word 2003, you're stuck using the on-screen keyboard or input panel for other items such as appointments, contacts, tasks, and journal entries.
The magic of TEO is that it provides Tablet PC-optimized forms for creating and editing the rest of these items without re-inventing the application. When you create a contact, it is a true Outlook contact with additional ink data attached. You can toggle the TEO view on and off to switch between the standard Outlook view and TEO. If you want, you can strip them item of all ink data and convert it to a standard Outlook item when you're done making the necessary corrections.
MapPoint Integration with Contacts and Appointments
Use the mapping integration to find out how to get to Bob's office for that lunch appointment you have. You can pan and zoom the map on the location tab and when you found the information you are looking for, add it to your notes and mark it up or set an early reminder to make sure you get to the appointment on time.
Ink Data Entry
- Convenient and accurate handwriting recognition. Convert to text when and if you want to.
- Improved correction interface allows you to make non-destructive corrections to recognized text more quickly than previous versions.
- Background recognition means PDA's and other applications work the same with TEO as any other Outlook item.
- Recognition preview and confidence indicator alerts you of incorrectly recognized text.
Note Taking

- New rich note taking allows mixed ink, text, images, and more.
- Built in audio recording lets you record conversations, meetings, conference calls and more. Recording and playback embedded right in the Outlook item.
- Paste text and images from other applications and web pages. A hyperlink is automatically added for clipped web content.
- Multiple pages of notes and the ability to import Windows Journal documents.
- Stationery picker allows you to change the background of note pages.
Better Organization
- The Outlook Journal is a great place to keep track of notes, customer interaction, and time spent on jobs.
- Keep a log of all your phone calls. Skype integration automatically organizes your call notes and links them to contacts.
- Keep track of research topics using the research highlighter which organizes links to Wikipedia articles in your notes.
- Stay organized with Outlook categories. TEO can warn you if you forget to categorize an item.
- Find contacts and map appointment locations with directions using MapPoint integration.
Requirements
TEO 3.0 requires a Tablet PC, UMPC, or Origami device running Windows XP Tablet PC Edition SP2 or Windows Vista as well as Outlook 2003 or 2007.

- Navigation displays a list of all panels (pages) sorted alphabetically by panel name or date of last update. Just click a panel and go there. You can name all of the panels.

- Stationary, templates, watermarks, backgrounds. Users can draw, design and then re-customize their own personal stationary or backgrounds.
- Transparency allows the Evolution panel to become transparent. You can adjust the level of transparency so that you can look right through the Evolution panel and see your desktop underneath.
- Pen pressure sensitivity and InAir pen tool sequence changing is supported.
- File backups can be directed to five (5) locations where you can have your files for safe keeping. These include three (3) local folders on your tablet and two (2) other remote or wireless computers. Even to a flash memory stick attached to a remote or wireless computer.
- Automatic backup. The program will make a backup when it senses that you have not done a daily backup. It's easy to forget about backups and this jogs your memory.

PDF Annotator (#3)

PDF Annotator lets the user open any PDF file and add annotations, using the Tablet PC pen, directly on the PDF file's pages. The annotated documents can then be saved directly back to PDF format. In this way, anyone can read or print the annotated PDF documents. Annotated documents can also be easily attached to emails.
Previously, annotating, commenting or proofreading a document received for review in PDF file format was possible only by using multiple software products in a row--or only by printing the document and adding comments manually. With PDF Annotator, annotations can also be added in a natural way--using a pen--but everything remains in digital format. PDF Annotator allows commenting of PDF files in a single step.
The user no longer needs to print a PDF document to annotate it. A PDF file received for review can be opened in PDF Annotator, commented on the Tablet PC using the pen, then saved back to a PDF file in a single step. This saves both resources and time. With the Tablet PC, a PDF document is treated just like a normal printed document. The user just writes or draws his ideas and thoughts on the existing document.
PDF Annotator also lets you insert blank pages to gain more space for your comments. It can be used to fill in forms, and you can even use it for note-taking by creating new blank PDF documents.

AlphaTap! (#15)
|

AlphaTap is pen-based typing software that provides the first shorthand typing method for Tablet PC. AlphaTap's Lightning Shorthand is much easier to
learn than traditional shorthand and far faster than handwriting and other pen-based text input methods. As tablet users have discovered, handwriting is a slow and tiring way to interact with a PC.
You can master use of AlphaTap in as little as one week with regular use, and achieve sustained typing speeds of 40-50 wpm -- equivalent to a proficient touch-typist. AlphaTap presents an ergonomic layout, with a 4x7 "staircase" of keys in right- or left-handed orientation, to place your pen motion within your natural range for handwriting.
Stroking words on the staircase layout >?
|
 |
AlphaTap's Lightning Shorthand feature uses a vocabulary of the most common words and syllables in English, covering over 50% of typical English usage. The human mind readily associates these common words with the gestures of simple pen strokes. AlphaTap guides a first-time user through Lightning Shorthand strokes, so they are learned on the fly without special training.
(Note: the Palm & PocketPC pen alphabets are simplified longhand, not
shorthand, and so do not provide a speed advantage vs. handwriting.)
AlphaTap provides a full-fledged replacement for the Tablet PC Input Panel by including a complete set of keys in a layout optimized for pen use. This layout "floats" in a small translucent window, using a minimal amount of screen space.
AlphaTap Lite is freeware. AlphaTap Standard is available to download from the Network Improv web site and may be trialed free of charge for thirty days. AlphaTap Standard is $39 for personal use, and may also be licensed for integration with Tablet PC solutions. More information
